Volunteer on a horse farm in Norway

We are looking for a volunteer this summer/autumn to help us on our small horse farm outside Trondheim (preferably starting as soon as possible). We accommodate in total 6 horses, 4 boarded and 2 belong to the farm. The horses are now on the summer pasture close by the farm and we need some help with some of the maintenance on the farm to get the farm ready for the winter.

We can offer free accommodation with your own bedroom and shared bathroom and kitchen. Meals will be included.

Your work will include a mix of different tasks including everything from painting, insulating water pipes, setting up fences, stable gardening work, and help exercising the two horses. The work will vary a lot so it never gets boring 😊.

Work duration: 4-5 hours per day, preferably to help us on the weekends when we have free from work and have in return 2 free days during the week but this can be discussed 🙂 . Upon completion we will write you a letter of recommendation.

About us: We are three people living on the farm. We have three separate units but two of us share a kitchen. The third one has her own kitchen and bathroom. Your room is in the main house located in one of the flats. Pia runs the stable business and would be your main contact. We also have two cats living with us.

Location: We are only a 20 min. car drive from Trondheim, located in the beautiful Byneset with its great view towards the fjord and forest nearby with lots of hiking trails and cabins to visit. We also have a bus connection and can drive you to the local metrobus where busses go every 15 minutes to Trondheim. Trondheim is Norway’s third largest city known for its student life and with lots of sights like restaurants, cafés, and museums to explore.

Requirements: We are looking for a physically fit person who likes to work much outside (no matter how the weather is :)) and with people and animals. You have to be at least 18 years old.

Additional qualifications (not a must but preferred):

  • driver’s license B or BE for driving a trailer
  • experience with horses
  • background in carpentry, construction, renovation

Languages: We speak Norwegian, English and German.

Work duration: 2- 6 weeks

If you are interested you can contact Pia and tell a little bit about yourself! Looking forward to hearing from you 🙂 (Pia1905@gmail.com)
